Things to Do and See in Cordova, Spain

Planning to visit Cordova in the future? It was over six month now since we visited this lovely city of Andalusia in Spain. Called as Cordoba in Spanish, this city has a lot of things to offer to all its guests and visitors.

Sad to say, it has no airport to serve for passengers who wish to fly there.  If you are especially coming  from  England  and wish to visit Cordova, you can check the airports near it.  You can either fly to Seville, Malaga or Madrid.  Easyjet  for example  are offering cheap fares  from London Stansted to Malaga airport. Depending on your point of departure from the UK, you can also check British Airways flights to any destination in Spain.

Here are some of the things to do and see when in Cordova.

Visit the Mezquita

This is the most famous attraction in Cordoba and really a must-see. I was amazed by its architecture especially its interior parts. This was a mosque turned into a Catholic Cathedral. This building is full of history and beauty. You will marvel its arts and architecture once you visit it.

Walk On The Roman Bridge

Called as Puente Romano in Spanish, this bridge crosses the Guadalquivir River. it was once the main crossing over the river. It was built in the early 1st century BC during the period of the Roman rule in Cordova. This is a very interesting work of engineering during those times.

See the Calle de las Flores

Translated as "Street of the Flowers" in English, this narrow street with its beautiful tiny square is always full of flowers. From there, you can have a nice view of the tower of Mezquita.

A Quick Peep at the Synagogue

This is not really a big building. Let's say, it is small but beautiful. It is said to be one of the three remaining synagogue in Spain. It was built in 1315. You can find lovely Mudejar decorative plaster on the walls inside this small square room with high ceilings.

Witness some of its famous events like the Semana Santa, Carnaval, Cruces de Mayo and many events that are taking place every year.

Religious structures such as the historical churches of San Miguel, San Agustin, San Andres, San Lorenzo, San Pablo and many more are also worth to visit.

Oldtimertreffen in Neumarkt, Bavaria

After taking our brunch this morning, me and hubby can't wait to go to the Oldtimertreffen in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz in Bavaria. This was already the third time that we witness this event. It started around 10:00 am. We arrived there almost noon time. You can see various oldtimer cars with different styles, colors, names and forms.

It was really very interesting seeing how technology evolved. I heard over the news that over 25,000 people went to the said event today. I am not quite sure how many oldtimer cars were there but I believed it is over a hundred. The sunny weather with cool breeze made it perfect today.

Here are some images of the oldtimer cars at the Oldtimertreffen in Neumarkt today.

Lovely Weekend!

How's your weekend  peeps! I hope you all had a lovely one. I can say, not a boring one for me. In fact, it was a great one. I am happy with what I had from yesterday's crystal shopping in Neustadt an der Wald Naab. I also met some friends there. It was wonderful seeing them again especially my godchild. He is really very cute!

There were a lot of people  who went crystal shopping yesterday. I can't imagine the first store we went to. It was really full of people. I got nice stuffs with good deals and I am happy with it. Sad to say I cannot find crystal plastic bins. Ooppss! I wasn't really looking for that. What I need is an ordinary plastic bin since ours is already broken. I need to get one anytime this week when I go grocery shopping.

I guess that is all for now peeps. I am quite sleepy now. I wish you all a wonderful week!

View of Big Ben and the Parliament from London Eye Capsule

This is not really a good shot. What can you do with an ordinary point and shoot camera. My other canon camera did not work that time. The lens won't open anymore but now I already had it fixed and it work again. This photo doesn't really matter to me. The mos important thing is, I have some photo memories during my trip to London last 2008.

I was alone riding  London Eye that afternoon. It was raining hard and really very cold because it was autumn time in England. It was a sort of an adventure for me going alone sometimes in London. Experiencing London Eye was a great one feeling especially when you are on the very top and have a  breathtaking view of the whole city. It was simply amazing!

Trip To The Baltic States- The Center of Europe

Our trip to the Baltic States is finally booked. After convincing hubby that we will go there for our vacation this year, he did not hesitated about it. And yes,  we had a unanimous decision. It will be a 6-day trip on September 2012. We will be visiting some of the cities and towns in the Baltic region.

One of the cities that we will be visiting is Klaipeda. It is the third largest city of Lithuania situated at the mouth of Dane River that flows into the Baltic Sea. Our tour guide will surely show us the sights in this city.

The Curonian Spit is also included in this holiday package. It is very interesting to know that it is home to the highest moving (drifting) sand dunes in Europe. I would surely love to see this wonderful landscape soon. The Curonian Spit is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and is shared by two countries, Lithuania and Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia in the southern part.

Riga, the capital and largest city of Latvia is also included in our travel itinerary. It is known as the Paris in the Baltic. We will be seeing the its historical center which is also included in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania is another highlight in this trip. It is dubbed as the "Jerusalem of the North". I would love to see some of its famous sights like the Gediminas Castle, Vilnius Cathedra, St. Ann's Church, Three Crosses Hill and more. I hope we can have more time to go around its Old Town.

Other places that we will be visiting are Kaunas, Siauliai (known in German as Berg der Kreuze) and  some sidetrips to Hamburg and Kiel in Germany.

If you plan to visit  the Baltic States, you can surely find cheap flights in any airports like in Riga and Vilnius. Try to read  flight reviews  online especially on  the different carriers that fly to the Baltic capitals.

I can't wait to visit these countries in a few months. I am quite excited especially  because this will be  my first time to go there. Travel images will be shared after our trip!

This Floating Chinese Restaurant in Amsterdam

We just saw this floating Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam when a had a canal cruise  in this city. It is actually called the Sea Palace. This pagoda-style restaurant is located near the center of Amsterdam near the Central Station.

We don't have the chance to go inside and taste their food. Our friend who lives in Holland brought us to another Asian restaurant and we did not regret going inside  because the food and the ambiance were  good. I can't exactly remember the name of that restaurant.

I read some  reviews online about Sea Palace. Others had bad experiences and some had  nice ones. I might try it in my next visit to this city.

Sort of Adventure

I saw some sort of adventure images of some friends in  facebook. Some were jumping on the air from a plane or helicopter. How do you say that? Parachuting or freefall ? Or maybe bungee jumping? I am quite interested with the latter but I guess I need to buy my own bungee cord. How about swimming with sharks or whales? lol!

During my latest visit to Neuschwanstein Castle in Schwangau the other week, I saw some people doing paragliding. This is some sort of adventure also. If I have the chance to do it, why not!

My life is also full of surprises and adventures especially when I travel alone and I always  love it! I hope to have more travels to come in the future before my knees get weak.
