I got a lot of fun last weekend, just feel free to visit my other sites for more updates. The past days, I also tried to get some exercise. I don't want to sit down the whole day in front of my pc. I need to go out sometimes, be with the nature and and take some exercise. I just do it through walking. We have a great place for walking and it is away from vehicles. I also need to take away some excess weight especially that summer is almost coming. It's time to go swimming again and I guess my swimsuits are getting smaller now. You know what I mean! How about getting golf training aids to start playing golf? I will see if I can afford it. Time to sign-off. More updates this week. have a great one to all!

Suffering in Silence

Happy Sunday! This did not happened today. I mean "my suffering in silence"...lol..This happened last Wednesday as I had again a very bad migraine. It was so bad that I vomited and really felt very dizzy. I tried to relax in a dark room and want to to go to sleep to forget the pain but I just can't do it due to severe pain on the left side of my head. It was really very bad. I took some migraine pills but sometimes it has no effect anymore. Last year, I also had very bad migraine that my husband drove me to our house doctor to give some shot or injection. These were the worst migraine attack that I had. You can be very happy if you don't have like this. Never even dream to have it.

I did had some shoulder pains too last week and the past days got some slight headache. I don't exactly know if this is the effect of the changing of the weather now or maybe everytime I have my monthly visitor. You know what I mean ladies..Even now, I am having a slight headache but not so bad. I am hoping that this migraine will never attack me anymore..

Just visit my other homes for more updates..Enjoy the rest of your weekend!! take care everyone!!

Good Start of the Month

Hello everyone! The first day of the month of March is almost over. how did you spend your day? I just stayed at home and did some household chores and talked to my family back home. I also had a nice conversation with a friend. I would say it is a good start of the month. I also talked to my husband about the planned trip to Paris by month-end. I am still waiting for the approval of my husband's vacation leave so that the trip to Paris, France will push through. I also can't wait to see my friend in Ramstein, a place near Kaiserslautern. From Kaiserslautern will be the starting place to hop in a bus to Paris..I am quite excited to see the "Romantic city" for the first time!

I wish you all a nice week ahead..take care everyone..God bless us all!! will give you more updates next time!!

Are You Wasting Money on Multivitamins?

I guess this is a good start for the week. I just got this post in the Bulletin Board Posted by one of my friends in friendsters. Thanks a lot Merz for sharing this. This only serves as General Information. ...Continue to read if you want to know more. Who knows this might cause you to save some money and avoiding the side effects of taking vitamins...Have a great day to all!!

Date: Monday, 16 February, 2009 3:35 PM

Subject: Multivitamins....a waste??? Important , pls. read...
Message: Are You Wasting Money on Multivitamins?

Advertisements with tantalizing promises of improved health, prevention of cancer and heart disease, and greater energy have lured millions of Americans to spend billions of dollars on the purchase of multivitamins.

An article in the February 9 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine reported that multivitamin use did not protect the 161,808 postmenopausal women enrolled in the Women's Health Initiative Study from common forms of cancer, heart attacks, or strokes. And the numbers of deaths during the 8 years of the study were the same in vitamin users as in non-users. Still, it is important to recognize that this was an observational study, not a more meaningful clinical trial. Although these findings apply only to women, other studies have failed to show benefits of multivitamins in older men.

These results are not at all surprising for several reasons. No large study has shown that multivitamins significantly benefit healthy men and women. In addition, for some years physicians prescribed folic acid and vitamins B12 and B6 in the hopes of preventing heart attacks and strokes by lowering blood levels of homocysteine. (High blood levels of homocysteine are associated with an increased risk of coronary and other vascular diseases.) A number of recent studies, however, have shown that, while these vitamins do lower homocysteine levels, they do not prevent heart attacks or strokes.

Many doctors have also prescribed the antioxidants vitamin E and beta-carotene to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. Alas, studies have now proven that these supplements are not protective--and may even be harmful.

No one denies that an adequate intake of vitamins is essential; however, vitamins can and should be obtained from eating enough healthy foods rather than from swallowing vitamin supplements.
Then what about vitamins being a great source of energy? Some multivitamin ads do indeed claim that their supplements boost energy; and some professional athletes gobble handfuls of vitamin pills to increase their energy and strength. But researchers proved long ago that energy comes from calories, not vitamins. The highly touted cholesterol-lowering effects of substances added to some multivitamin supplements? Still unproven.

All this is not to say that specific vitamins supplements are never desirable. Vitamins can be valuable in certain situations:

* Folic acid supplements in women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant can help to prevent serious neural-tube defects that affect the baby's brain and spine.
* Supplements that contain more vitamin D and calcium than is present in regular multivitamin pills can help older men, and especially women, avoid osteoporosis and bone fractures.
* Supplements of vitamins C and E, beta-carotene, zinc, and copper may slow the progression of vision loss in people with early macular degeneration.
And multivitamins are beneficial for some entire groups of people:
* those on a very-low-calorie weight-loss diet
* strict vegetarians
* heavy alcohol drinkers
* individuals who are not getting an adequate diet because they are too sick or too poor--or live by themselves and are unable to prepare proper meals for themselves
I also agree with a comment made by one of the coauthors of the Archives of Internal Medicine article about postmenopausal women mentioned above. An 8-year follow-up period may not be long enough to show that multivitamins protect against cancers that take many years to develop.
All the same, the results of the studies on vitamins so far point to one conclusion: Healthy people who eat enough calories from a varied diet do not benefit from multivitamin supplements.

Remembering my dearest Sis on Her natal day

Glitter Graphics

I wish you all the best dearest Sis Regz. ..May all your wishes come true. More blessings to come and candles to blow..good health always!! luv yah..miss you all!! keep hoping and praying..God bless us all!!

Birthday Blessings
Instead of counting candles,
Or tallying the years,
Contemplate your blessings,
As your birthday nears.
Consider special people
Who love you, and who care,
And others who’ve enriched your life
Just by being there.
Think about the memories
Passing years can never mar,
Experiences great and small
That have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift,
So cut your cake, and say,
"Instead of counting birthdays,
I count blessings every day!"

Sad and Shocking Story

I just feel so sad today after reading in the newspaper of a young boy who committed suicide. Imagine at the age of thirteen, he committed suicide. He was found inside his closet and believed to hang himself. I knew it since last Friday because my husband told me about it. I had seen this boy whom I will call for short Andre two years ago in the German American Volksfest here in Hohenfels. . And I always see his picture everytime I visit my dentist. Yes this boy was the son of my dentist. He got a very kind and wonderful father and I believed a wonderful family too. I really can't imagine how he did that or what are the reasons why he ended his life. But whatever reasons why he did that, I just pray for the repose of his soul and may he rest in peace and join our Creator now.

He is young, very good looking boy, and helpful according to his classmates and schoolmate. Here is a short message from his friends and classmates according to a German Newspaper in our place.

Wir vermissen unseren guten Freund
Andre
der uns immer zum Lachen brachte und sehr hilfsbereit war.
Auch wenn Dein Platz in unserer Klasse leer bleibt,
wirst Du immer in unserem Herzen sein!

Deine Freunden and Klassenkameraden

I will try to translate it in English so that you can understand it better. here it is;

We miss our good friend
Andre
who always bring laughter and was also very helpful.
Even when your seat in our class is empty now,
you will always be in our hearts.

From your friends and classmates

Before I write this post, I was watching in Frontal 21, a ZDF German TV program that featured tonight about medicine or tablets for anti-depression but give side effects such as risk to suicide. Some tablets that are featured are Prozac and Strattera which are manufactured by Lilly from the United States and Zoloft from Pfizer. The Strattera which are taken by 3.5 million children around the world including Germany. Below are the following URLs of the ZDF TV program which I watched tonight in the television and also search it in the interent. This is in German and I suggest that you better search these tablets in Google or yahoo or whatever search engines, so that you will know exactly what are its side effects.

http://frontal21.zdf.de/ZDFde/inhalt/0/0,1872,7488768,00.html?dr=1

I am just sharing this to all of you for you to be aware of the side effects of these products. Before you take these tablets, please think of it a thousand times. I just don't exactly know if Andre had taken one kind of these medicines before. I hope not! because I just really can't believe that this happened to him.

I know life is not perfect. There is always ups and downs. I was there. I know how it feels that sometimes you get really confuse why such bad things happened. As for me, I just keep on asking for help from Him though prayer. I know that without him this world is nothing. Don't lose hope! Keep praying! ..that is only our best defense! Always remember, No Matter what, this world is still a beautiful world to live in...Life is still beautiful!!

Lastly I would like to extend my deepest condolence to Andre's family. Wherever he is now, I hope and pray that he rest now in peace with the Lord.

Seeing A friend

I was very happy to see a friend last Wednesday. She is a Brazilian and was my classmate when I attended German language school from 2006-2007. She had been calling me a lot of times at home but as the time she was calling me I was always in vacation. After my husband's reminders I finally called and talked to her last Sunday and told her to meet last Wednesday..I am happy for her because she already started her business, a bar cafe in Neumarkt. At least she is happy and contented now. We went a bit shopping in Neumarkt and after that we ate at their home where she cooked some Brazilian food. I love it! It is almost the same on how we cook our food. We had a great time last Wednesday. She was also happy to see me again since the last time we saw each other during her birthday last April of this year. Even we seldom see each other but the good friendship is always there.. It is one thing that makes me happy too, having good friends like her. happy weekend to all!!

p.s...the photo here is the Latinos Bar cafe of my Brazilian friend..cool place to have fun!!

Termites helped destroy New Orleans dikes?

Termites helped destroy New Orleans dikes?

NEW ORLEANS (UPI) -- U.S. scientists say they've discovered evidence termites might have been to blame for the failure of some New Orleans dikes during Hurricane Katrina.

Louisiana State University Professor Gregg Henderson says he discovered Formosan subterranean termites (Coptotermes formosanus Shiraki) in the floodwall seams of some New Orleans dikes five years before Katrina struck.

After the dikes were breached in 2005, Henderson and colleague Alan Morgan inspected 100 seams for evidence of termites where major floodwall breaks had occurred. They said they discovered 70 percent of the seams in the city's London Avenue Canal, which experienced two major breaks during Katrina, showed evidence of insect attack, as did 27 percent of seams inspected in the walls of the 17th Street Canal.

Henderson said the termites might have contributed to the destruction of the levees in New Orleans by digging networks of tunnels, which can weaken the levee system.

"I believe the termites pose a continuing danger that requires immediate attention," Henderson wrote, suggesting New Orleans' 350 miles of levees and floodwalls should be surveyed for termite damage.

The researchers detail their findings in the fall issue of the journal American Entomologist.

Chat With my Sister

I chatted with my Sister from Las Vegas last Monday. I was happy to hear from her again after not chatting for more than a month. One problem is the time difference we have from each other. We took a lot of things especially the financial and economic crisis that hit America now. She was also sad that a lot of employees in other Nursing Homes and Hospitals were laid-off. As I was in Las Vegas last May and June of this year, my Sister was trying to find a good Life insurance for her and her husband. They found online a life insurance quote that best fit for their needs. Now they already have one. She said that it is better to have one at the early age that get it later. I'm happy to hear about it. If you are looking for for Life Insurance Quotes, Wholesale Insurance will provide it for you!! Always remember "The earlier, The better".

7 Qualities of a Good Leader

I am just sharing this for today. I am just so tired today having my monthly visitor. Just let me wish you a great evening!! Read this very good words below!!

7 Qualities of a Good Leader
=============================

1. A good head to be able to evaluate the quality of ideas and
suggestions presented to him.

2. A good heart to be able to be compassionate and fair with the
people.

3. A good spirit to be able to hear the voice of God. Some paths
God will lead you down don't make head and heart sense at the
time.

4. A good eye to be able to see things other people cannot.

5. A good tongue to be able to communicate the vision to the
people and motivate them to follow.

6. A good hand to be able to do the things that need to be
done. Knowing the right way is not the same as doing it.

7. A good foot to set an example for the people. A minor flaw
can outshine a major mission in the eyes of small minds.
