May is Ending

Some more minutes and the month of May is ending! I hope you had a great month of May. So far for me, it was a great one. I guess I had some accomplishments for this month. I am also thankful for the blessings that I received this month. I hope that the coming months will be better and more abundant for me and my family. I also wish everyone a bountiful and joyful month of June! To welcome the month of the bride, here is a very nice quote for all of us! Have a great week ahead! take care everyone!

"Happiness is not something you have in your hands.
It's something you carry in your heart.
Give it away generously
and it will return to you a thousand fold."

Memorial Day Celebration for Americans

Special greetings to all Americans especially to all American friends from Hohenfels U.S. Base here in Germany in the celebration of Memorial day! I wish you all a safe and enjoyable holiday!

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 25 in 2009). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the civil war), it was expanded after World War I to include American casualties of any war or military action.

HISTORY OF MEMORIAL DAY

Following the end of the Civil War, many communities set aside a day to mark the end of the war or as a memorial to those who had died. Some of the places creating an early memorial day include Sharpsburg, Maryland, located near Antietam Battlefield; Charleston, South Carolina; Boalsburg, Pennsylvania; Petersburg, Virginia; Carbondale, Illinois; Columbus, Mississippi; many communities in Vermont; and some two dozen other cities and towns. These observances coalesced around Decoration Day, honoring the Union dead, and the several Confederate Memorial Days.

According to Professor David Blight of the Yale University History Department, the first memorial day was observed on May 1, 1865 by liberated slaves at the Washington Race Course (today the location of Hampton Park) in Charleston, South Carolina. The site had been used as a temporary Confederate prison camp as well as a mass grave for Union soldiers who died in captivity. The freed slaves disinterred the dead Union soldiers from the mass grave to be inhumed properly reposed with individual graves, built a fence around the graveyard with an entry arch, declaring it a Union graveyard. On May 30, 1868, the freed slaves returned to the graveyard with flowers they had picked from the countryside and decorated the individual gravesites, thereby creating the first Decoration Day. Thousands of freed blacks and Union soldiers paraded from the area, followed by much patriotic singing and a picnic.[4]

The official birthplace of Memorial Day is Waterloo, New York. The village was credited with being the place of origin because it observed the day on May 5, 1866, and each year thereafter. The friendship between General John Murray, a distinguished citizen of Waterloo, and General John A. Logan, who helped bring attention to the event nationwide, likely was a factor in the holiday's growth.

Logan had been the principal speaker in a citywide memorial observation on April 29, 1866, at a cemetery in Carbondale, Illinois, an event that likely gave him the idea to make it a national holiday. On May 5, 1868, in his capacity as commander-in-chief of the Grand Army of the Republic, a veterans' organization, Logan issued a proclamation that "Decoration Day" be observed nationwide[5]. It was observed for the first time on May 30 of the same year; the date was chosen because it was not the anniversary of a battle. The tombs of fallen Union soldiers were decorated in remembrance.

Many of the states of the U.S. South refused to celebrate Decoration Day, due to lingering hostility towards the Union Army and also because there were relatively few veterans of the Union Army who were buried in the South. A notable exception was Columbus, Mississippi, which on April 25, 1866 at its Decoration Day commemorated both the Union and Confederate casualties buried in its cemetery.

What Really happened Last Thursday

Another morning is almost breaking! How was your weekend guys? I hope you had a great one! So far weekend for me was very better and quite relaxing! and what really happened last Thursday? I had a terrible migraine attack again! It started around early afternoon. It became worst around late afternoon that I vomited a lot and lost most of my energy. I took some pain relievers but it didn't help. I just felt so very very tired that time. Around in the evening last Thursday, after some sleep I felt better again. I was so hungry after vomiting in the afternoon. I told my husband to drive me in the nearest fast food restaurant because I want to taste and eat some food. We drove to Parsberg then. I was praying that the pain will subside and totally gone when I wake up the next day.

Friday morning, around seven, I felt very bad again. My head was so heavy and pounding with pain. I said to myself, this is not good anymore. I guess I need an injection that time. Our house doctor is still not open that time and nobody will drive me to the doctor. I can't drive also with such terrible pain in my head. I took this time a migraine tablet and went back to sleep. I just ate a banana to have something in my stomach before I took the migraine tablet. After I took the tablet, I felt weak that my arms and legs can't move anymore. It was truly a bad feeling. I don't know what happened then because I fall asleep already.

After some hours of sleep, I woke-up around 10:30 am. I was thankful that I felt better already. I even went to the bank to pick-up some money. I was not feeling totally fine last Friday afternoon but very better compared to Thursday. Yesterday, I felt very very better that I did update some of my blogs. Today I had a great day with my husband as we went walking for some kilometers in our place. I just always hope and pray that migraine will never attack me anymore. I guess, that's all for now! Time to go to bed! have a blessed week ahead! take care everyone! wish to share some pictures tomorrow from our walking today!

Weekend Escapades!

I got some great weekends! I spent it with good old friends! Saturday a friend and her family visited us and spent some time for lunch or dinner. I don't know exactly how to call it because we ate around 4pm already. After we ate, we drove to Regensburg and did some shopping in Donau Einkaufscentrum or Danube Shopping Center. It was a great day seeing friends again.

Yesterday, we visited back Maria, the first Filipina friend I met in Germany. It was also a lot of fun yesterday. Maria and family had a barbeque party because it was their first wedding anniversary. Time just passed so quickly that we don't notice it sometimes. The family circles of Maria's husband were in the grill party. It was a great afternoon because the weather was also perfect for grilling and get together! I am just sharing some photos from weekend's escapades! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Sad To Hear About Someone

Before the story begins, I would like to apologize about the hiatus that happened this morning in most of my blogs. The lay-outs were gone. It was a catastrophe! Just visit my other site, The World Wide Web for more updates. To the main story tonight, I felt sad as I heard from someone last Monday that a town mate is having a terminal sickness. I haven't talk to this lady after I visited her one time in 2004 to pick a "Balikbayan" box, which we use for sending presents back home. Besides that I am not really calling people just to talk non-sense things unless it is something important. I also heard that she already closed her Asian shop long time ago because maybe of her sickness. I really don't know this lady but I can say that as we bought something to her shop before, she was very friendly and nice. I guess it is not a Mesothelioma cancer that she has but another one. I am not so sure what it is exactly because I also did not asked this other lady who mentioned it to me. We just happened to see each other as I went grocery shopping last Monday. I hope and pray that God will perform a miracle to this poor lady. I believed she is a good person and sometimes I ask, why to this kind of person? Please let's pray for her! have a great night!

HIATUS!!

THIS BLOG IS UNDERGOING LAY-OUT CONSTRUCTION! I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY INCONVENIENCES...THANKS FOR YOUR UNDERTANDING! HAVE A GREAT DAY TO ALL!

Make That Face Look More Beautiful

Here is a health and beauty tip especially for women. Do you usually wear make-up when you go out from your home? Do you know how to wear the right make-up for the right occasion? Here is a beauty tip on how to make look your face more beautiful!

"When applying makeup, draw attention to one part of your face: either your eyes or your lips. Wearing large amounts of lipstick and eyeshadow at the same time divides the focus and isn't very flattering. Pick one to accentuate and tone down the other."

Another tip for today, if you want to lose extra pounds, take a look at liporexall review, it might help. See you again tomorrow!

My Quote For Today

There is a very beautiful quote I read today. I also want to share it to everyone especially to those who read this blog. Do you believe in this saying? I absolutely believed! In my own understanding it simply means this way; As long as you are doing the right thing, never care what other people say..Don't get affected because Someone up above is watching you. Cheers and happy Sunday!

Believe there is a great power
silently working all things for good,
behave yourself and never mind the rest.

Saturday Escapades to the Burg Ruins of Donaustauf

We had finally had a day out yesterday. It was a perfect one because the weather was also friendly and nice. It was not so cold and not so hot but sometimes the wind was just chilly. That is typical weather in Germany. One destination we had yesterday was in the Castle Ruins or Burg Ruins in Donaustauf. I have been sometimes in Donaustauf but only yesterday that I noticed that there is a Castle in the same place where Walhalla is also located. I was amazed how big the castle was as we walked around and saw the castle walls that surrounds it. Amazing architecture. We also read an info near the gate that the castle was built around 500 BC. Imagine how old it is? This is one thing I admired about Germany...on how they preserved their history. A short break for me now and watch what an identity theft protection exactly all about! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday especially to all Mothers who have their special day today!

FYI: the photo was taken in the Castle Ruins of Donaustauf..the river you see is the second longest river in Europe called Danube River or Donau in German..fell free to visit my other sites for more pictures!

Happy Mother's Day To All Mothers!

I would like to extend this opportunity to greet all Mothers a very happy and meaningful blessed day! Congratulations for being such good Mothers to your children. Sad to say, I am not still a mother. I guess I am still young not to think too much about it. ..wink! I also would like to take this opportunity to greet My Beloved one and only Mother a blessed and fantastic day! I am happy that I called home today and already greeted her. I already told her that my gift will be given when I go home for vacation this year. Do you think a heart pendant necklace is a lovely present to my dear Mama? I believed so!

Can't Think of A Title

I just can't think of a title for this post. I just felt so bad after I saw the pictures which my husband took while we had a day-out today. I was already very happy as we went to Gewerbepark or Trade Park in Regensburg because I saw a lot of old cars which are on the show. We also went to the so-called Parthenon in Regensburg named Walhalla and to the Castle Ruins of Donaustauf. I just felt bad because my husband zoomed most of the pictures he took from me in Walhalla that you don't see anaymore the very nice view of it...Grrrrrrr..!! He still took good pictures though. but the good view that I wanted is not there. I always told him that it's ok if you only take a picture of my face as long as you got the whole nice view...Grrrrrr again!....Due to my anger, I told him that I will drive there again tomorrow to take more pictures! I guess I rather go for Outer Banks rentals to have fun alone! I still have a nice Saturday...hehehe! Feel free to visit my other sites for more pictures!

FYI: the so-called Parthenon in Germany. It is called Walhalla built by King Ludwig I of Bavaria in Donaustauf, Regensburg

How About a Beauty Tip This Weekend

I guess most women have problem fixing their hair especially if they are in a hurry. I got the same problem sometimes. I have a very long hair until below my waist line. What I do sometimes is to pull my chop sticks and twist and clip it...very easy! here's a weekend beauty tip of what what you can do more with your hair..

Quick Hair Tip

If you can't get your hair to "do its thing" in the morning, invest in some hair clips and decorative sticks. It only takes a minute to twist your hair back and clip it into place, and the right hair accessories can still make your 'do look sophisticated. Use a bit of hairspray if you're worried about fly-aways.

Just Some Updates!

Thank God it's Friday! I guess this is true for all employees who have off during the weekend like my husband. I know we will be busy this weekend because there are some things to do in the garden like mowing and cleaning. I got an easy but busy day today. As usual when I woke-up in the morning, I have to drink a cup of tea with some cookies this time instead of toasted bread. After I took my breakfast, I make me ready to go to the bank for a money transfer of what I ordered last night in the internet. I ordered some computer accessories. I also went to our beautiful church and lit some candles and offered prayers. After a bit of walking, I decided to cook special for lunch. This is special for me because I only eat it once in a while. My friend, Maria just came back from a vacation to our home country and brought me some "daing and tuyo" or bulad in our dialect. I cooked a lot and I also have some boiled mono beans with pork meat. What happened during my lunch? I got a "daing and tuyo" fiesta..I ate a lot again! I woke-up this morning and told myself to start losing weight but here I am again eating too much! Would you think the best weight loss pills will really help? Short break for now..It's dinner time! see you later again for more updates!

Time For Accounting Our Insurances

Hello everyone! How's life going on! I finally have the chance to post here before Thursday is over. Life has been very busy for me for the past days..The time that I have is just enough to give you some updates in my blogs. Last week, I also accounted everything about how much we are paying for insurances. It's time to know everything so that we can budget my husband's income. I am still happy at least we can still make a short trip and vacation. Could you imagine paying various insurances for almost half of your salary. It also includes my husband's life insurance and mine also. The only advantages of having a better life insurance is during times of emergencies. We never know what happens in the future. At least we are financially prepared. How about you? Have a great evening! more updates tomorrow!

MM: One MOment in Time

I got another song for today. Do I really need "One Moment in Time"? here is the lyrics. I finally got a video here...very great song and singer! Whitney is always one of the best!

One Moment In Time lyrics
by: Whitney Houston

each day i live , i want to be

a day to give, the best of mei'm only one, but not alone,

my finest day is yet unknown
i broke my heart, for every gain,to taste the sweet, i faced the pain,
i raise and fall, yet through it all this much remains

refrain:

i want one moment in time, when i'm more than i thought i could be

when all of my dreams are a heartbeat away
and the answers are all up to me
give me one moment in time
when i'm racing with desteny, and then

in that one moment of time,
i will feel, i will feel eternity
i've lived to be the very best i wanted all...

It seems that I am away here for some days. Sorry guys life has been so busy these days. I have some offline and online duties to do. How's your weekend anyway? I got a lot of fun last weekend, just feel free to visit my other sites for more updates. The past days, I also tried to get some exercise. I don't want to sit down the whole day in front of my pc. I need to go out sometimes, be with the nature and and take some exercise. I just do it through walking. We have a great place for walking and it is away from vehicles. I also need to take away some excess weight especially that summer is almost coming. It's time to go swimming again and I guess my swimsuits are getting smaller now. You know what I mean! How about getting golf training aids to start playing golf? I will see if I can afford it. Time to sign-off. More updates this week. have a great one to all!
