Thanksgiving Party

Good afternoon! I believed most Filipino American friends are quite busy today preparing for Thanksgiving party. Some might be done with their lunch and some are still preparing for dinner. Hubby just asked me awhile ago what time are we going to the thanksgiving party. A friend invited us to take part in their thanksgiving dinner. I know I will eat a lot later and because of that I need a colon cleanse after eating. I will for sure have a cup of green tea after eating dinner. It has been around two years now since I did not eat baked turkey and pumpkin cake. I am quite excited to see friends again.

Happy Thanksgiving day to all Americans and friends who are celebrating it. Have fun but be safe! I am slowly getting ready for the party. See you later guys!

Visit to the Oktoberfest 2010 in Munich

I believed most of you are very familiar about Oktoberfest known as the largest fair in the world. For others, Oktoberfest simply means Beerfest. It is usually a 16-day celebration held in Theresienwiese in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It usually starts during the last week of September and ends sometime on the first week of October and is celebrated every year. Oktoberfest has been a part of Bavarian culture since 200 years. It only started as a wedding festival of King Ludwig I of Bavaria.

Without further adieu, here are some images taken during our third visit last October 19, 2010.

one of the beer tents in Oktoberfest.
Sometimes and even most of the time, all beer tents are always full during the festival. You better reserve your seats if ever you really want to spend time inside a beer tent.

That is the Paulaner beer tent in the background and someone is striking a pose too!

Yellow Flowers and the Horses

We just happened to pass-by this house as we went walking yesterday. I believed that these flowers are perennial ones and I want to have them in our garden also. I will see if I can find some of these this week when I will visit a garden center.

I also have a picture of the horses below. This was taken during a parade we witnessed yesterday. I guess that's all for now. It's time to go to bed. Have a wonderful week to all!

Tulips and the 150th Fire Brigade Anniversary in Neumarkt

Hello everyone! Weekend is almost over in Europe again! I hope you are having a great one. I always try to have a wonderful weekend with my hubby. Despite of the busy schedule of my husband we still find time to be together and go out to see places and festivals to have fun. This weekend is another great one. Without further adieu, here are the photos for my favorite memes.

The first one was taken from our garden today. Some tulips are still alive until now but a lot were already gone. The second image was taken during the 150th Anniversary of Feuerwehr or Fire Brigade in Neumarkt, a district in Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany. That was a great celebration with a very festive parade this afternoon. I guess that is all for now. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead.

Carnaval in Germany

I had a great fun watching the carnival in Velburg here in Germany. Despite of the rainy and snowy weather, the carnival parade still pushed through. Different groups participated in the parade. Some people (with costumes) I asked to have a pose with me are really nice and friendly. Look at this photo here, the lady with the yellow costumes, I guess was presenting as a duck. Different attractive and colorful costumes were seen during the parade. I believed it was a successful one despite the unfriendly weather!! cheers to all!! have a great Monday guys!!

German American Festival in Hohenfels, Bavaria

Every year the US Army base in Hohenfels is inviting all German people to come and celebrate with them the so-called German American Volksfest. It is a kind of festival that is celebrated every month-end of April until the first week of May. Sometimes it last for a week but I think this year, it only last for five days. It is always a lot of fun visiting festivals like this! I love it! I also rode in that ferris wheel as we went there. This is my MYM post! take care everyone!

Happy Mother's Day To All Mothers!

I would like to extend this opportunity to greet all Mothers a very happy and meaningful blessed day! Congratulations for being such good Mothers to your children. Sad to say, I am not still a mother. I guess I am still young not to think too much about it. ..wink! I also would like to take this opportunity to greet My Beloved one and only Mother a blessed and fantastic day! I am happy that I called home today and already greeted her. I already told her that my gift will be given when I go home for vacation this year. Do you think a heart pendant necklace is a lovely present to my dear Mama? I believed so!

Celebration of the Holy Thursday

Do you know what day today is? For Christians especially for Catholics today is the celebration of the Holy Thursday or the so-called Maundy Thursday. I could still remember our practices back home that during this day, we usually go to the Church to attend a Mass celebration for today. Sad to say, I haven't done it in Germany now. I'm so sorry for that...anyway to give you some info about Holy Thursday, I consulted the experts on the web. Have a blessed Lenten Season to all!

What is Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday?

Maundy Thursday (also known as Holy Thursday or Great and Holy Thursday), is the Christian feast or holy day falling on the Thursday before Easter that commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the Apostles. It is the fifth day of Holy Week, and is preceded by Holy Wednesday and followed by Good Friday. In 2009, Maundy Thursday will occur on April 9 for Western Christian traditions including Roman Catholicism and on April 16th for Eastern Christian traditions including most Orthodox Churches.

On this day four events are commemorated: the washing of the Disciples' Feet by Jesus Christ, the institution of the Mystery of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, the agony of Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the betrayal of Christ by Judas Iscariot. read more here

Holy Week from Monday To Wednesday!

I guess most Christians especially the Catholics are aware of what we celebrate this week. To give you some info about, continue reading below. Have a blessed Holy week to all!

Monday to Wednesday

The days between Palm Sunday and Maundy Thursday are known as Holy Monday (or Fig Monday), Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday (sometimes called Spy Wednesday). The Gospels of these days recount events not all of which occurred on the corresponding days between Jesus' entry into Jerusalem and his Last Supper. For instance, the Monday Gospel tells of the Anointing of Bethany (John 12:1-9), which occurred before the Palm Sunday event described in John 12:12-19.

The Chrism Mass, whose texts the Roman Missal now gives under Holy Thursday, may be brought forward to one of these days, to facilitate participation by as many as possible of the clergy of the diocese together with the bishop. This Mass was not included in editions of the Roman Missal before the time of Pope Pius XII. In this Mass the bishop blesses separate oils for the sick (used in Anointing of the Sick) for catechumens (used in Baptism) and chrism (used in Baptism, but especially in Confirmation and Holy Orders, as well as in rites such as the blessing of an altar and a church). please read more here

History of St. Patrick's Day!

I just posted in my other blog some information about St. Patrick's Day. For those who are celebrating this memorable day especially for Irish people and other people around the world, enjoy the celebration. I am just sharing a bit history about St. Patrick.

HISTORY OF ST. PATRICK'S DAY

In the past, Saint Patrick's Day was celebrated as a religious holiday. It became a public holiday in 1903, by the Money Bank. (Ireland) Act 1903, an Act of the United Kingdom Parliament introduced by the Irish MP James O'Mara. O'Mara later introduced the law which required that pubs be closed on 17 March, a provision which was repealed only in the 1970s. The first St. Patrick's Day parade held in the Irish Free State was held in Dublin in 1931 and was reviewed by the then Minister of Defence Desmond Fitzgerald. Although secular celebrations now exist, the holiday remains a religious observance in Ireland, for both the Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic Church.

It was only in the mid-1990s that the Irish government began a campaign to use Saint Patrick's Day to showcase Ireland and its culture. The government set up a group called St. Patrick's Festival, with the aim to:

—Offer a national festival that ranks amongst all of the greatest celebrations in the world and promote excitement throughout Ireland via innovation, creativity, grassroots involvement, and marketing activity.
—Provide the opportunity and motivation for people of Irish descent, (and those who sometimes wish they were Irish) to attend and join in the imaginative and expressive celebrations.
—Project, internationally, an accurate image of Ireland as a creative, professional and sophisticated country with wide appeal, as we approach the new millennium.
